On 10.10.2023, an energy workshop was held in Wunsiedel, organized by the Bayerisches Bildungswerk, in cooperation with SWW Wunsiedel and the city of Wunsiedel. The event gave various speakers and exhibitors the chance to present the topic of sustainable energy supply to an international audience and was rounded off with tours of the Wunsiedel Energy Park.
We as Es Geht! were involved in the preperations for the event, as well as being part of the exhibiton. Gerhard Meindl, Lisa Mages, Rainer Härtl and Lucas Dörr from the team were on site to represent Es Geht!
industrial transition
The mayor of Wunsiedel, Nikolas Lahovnik, deliberately chose the former production facility of the Dronko company as the venue. It is currently in the process of renovation and will soon be put to new use, which makes it a great symbol for sustainability.
international guests and high ranking speakers
Among others, we were pleased to welcome delegations from Namibia and the Czech Republic, who showed great interest in the presentations and in the WUNsiedler Weg.
After the introduction by mayor Nikolas Lahovnik and the managing director of SWW Marco Krasser, the guests of the event could listen to exciting presentations:
Prof. Dr. Dieter Brüggemann spoke on behalf of the Future Energy Lab
Dr. Andy Gradel represented btX energy GmbH and the university of Hof
Prof. Dr. Clemens Bulitta spoke on behalf of the OTH Amberg-Weiden
Climate protection manager Jürgen Kromer gave insights into the CO2-free district of Wunsiedel
Andreas Schmuderer represented the company Siemens and explained their role in the implementation of the WUNsiedler Weg
After the information exchange was rounded off by insights into the respective energy situation in the countries of the two delegations from Namibia and the Czech Republic, the guests set off for a guided tour through the energy park including the electrolysis plant of WUN H2.
big announcement
The event hosted another speaker. Dr. Kai Roder from Bayerisches Bildungswerk publicly announced for the first time the upcoming foundation of a new network: WUNI²TEC.
With the aim of connecting universities, industry and regional institutions and creating an important location for research and further education in the field of energy, WUNI²TEC will probably play a major role in the energy transition in Bavaria in the future.
When, what, who and how will be announced in the near future and of course we will report on it here on our blog, so don’t forget to check back every now and then.
