Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Rehtanz
About Christian
Christian studied electrical engineering and received his doctorate in power engineering from the Technical University of Dortmund in 1997. He habilitated at the ETH Zurich in 2002. Since 2000 he has held various leading industrial positions in Switzerland and China. Since March 2007, he has been head of the Institute for Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency and Energy Economics (ie3) at TU Dortmund University. He is a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences. His scientific work includes the development of future energy systems for the use of renewable energy sources and related system studies on grid stability, grid expansion needs, and grid and system control. The considerations range from regional supply concepts to European considerations.
Christian is responsible for the following issues at Es-Geht!:
- Design and evaluation of future energy systems for the use of renewable energy sources
- Studies on operation, planning and stability of electrical energy networks
- Design and implementation of decentralized supply concepts including electromobility
